Laundry Soap & stain spotting: I've been having a hard time finding a pure laundry Soap (not detergent) without fragrance. The Trader Joe's near me used to carry one but they discontinued. I have to drive 20-30 minutes (depending on traffic) to a Whole Foods or Wild Oats and they don't carry the brand I like. I've started making my own laundry soap. I buy Kirks Castile soap at Trader Joes, Super Washing Soda ,Borax and baking soda at Jewel. Recipe follows. 1 cup grated soap (I use a cheese grater) 1 cup baking soda 1/2 cup borax 1/2 cup washing soda Mix together and store in lidded container. Use 1/4 cup for large load. Kirks Castile is also a great pretreat. It gets out blood, chocolate, grass, mud and anything else a kid can roll in. I wet the stain and rub it with the soap bar. Leave the soap on the garment and wash with regular laundry. Also, equal parts of washing soda and borax makes a good automatic dishwasher detergent. It also is a great scouring compound. Gets my stainless steel sink sparkling bright, mixed with a shot of dishwashing liquid it makes a great soft scrub for the tub. Takes that hard water scum right off.
